Appalachian Trail, Hamburg, Pennsylvania
Shauna’s father had mentioned that he was interested in hiking to the Pinnacle, home of one of the most rewarding views on the Pennsylvania Appalachian Trail. I had completed this section countless times throughout my childhood and was excited to share the experience with them.
The sun had risen and we began our hour long drive to the trailhead.
When we arrived at the Hamburg Reservoir, we grabbed our gear and hit the trail. We would follow the white markers painted on the trees and rocks to stay on course. The first mile or so was a simple walk in the woods but that soon came to an end when we began our climb to Pulpit Rock.
With our hearts warmed and sweat on our backs, we started our journey back to the car taking a fairly large loop down through the woods. This was Shauna and Dave’s first long hike and they were proud of the 9 miles they now had under their belts!
The Appalachian Trail is an unforgettable place where memories are made, goals are achieved, and Mother Nature thrives.
